Update June 2012: Learn more about the students who won our competition >>
Attention students in Germany, Austria & Switzerland! arcplan's student relations arm, arc|ademy, is holding its first annual BI Challenge! A total of 15,000 euros in prize money awaits the winners.
We're inviting students who are using the BI platform arcplan Enterprise 7 as part of their studies to create an arcplan application and enter it into one of three categories: "Innovation," "Fast Movers," and "Business Excellence." In the first category, the winning application will be particularly innovative in its visualization, methodology, or technical approach. Fast Movers are applications that have been deployed in an extraordinarily short span of time or can be deployed particularly quickly. Finally, the Business Excellence category is for applications that aim to improve the quality of business decisions. Each winner will receive 5,000 euros.
Students wishing to apply (as individuals or as teams of up to six people) for the arc|ademy BI Challenge 2012 can submit their applications as presentations – in PowerPoint or PDF format (in German) – or as arcplan documents together with the databases. These documents should not contain any confidential information and the overall size of the application should not exceed 10Mb. When submitting only a presentation, temporary access to a live test system should be provided.
All submissions must include relevant screenshots with appropriate descriptions (up to 50 words per screenshot). Students are expected to explain the method and purpose of the application in a brief description (maximum 500 words). Furthermore, challenge entrants must provide the names and contact information for all individuals involved in the project, as well as proof of their university registration at a German, Austrian, or Swiss college or university as of September 15, 2011. Details on the relevance of the application to studies are also desired.
To begin, arcplan Enterprise 7 can be downloaded as a free 30-day trial version at www.arcplan.de/fte; arcplan will also provide test licenses or extensions upon request. Interested individuals can obtain further information by emailing arcademyTeam@arcplan.com. The submission deadline for the arc|ademy BI Challenge 2012 is February 29, 2012. After that date, jury members, including Dr. Wolfgang Martin, one Europe's leading analysts, Wolf Müller Scholz, publisher of Business Intelligence magazine, and representatives from Carl Zeiss, Daimler, Dachser, and Merck will begin choosing the best solutions in each category.
Can't wait to see the submissions!
