Kscope13 Conference Recap – An Exhibitor’s Perspective

Dwight_at_booth_demo_sm Another Kscope is behind us! This was the third time arcplan has exhibited at this annual conference put on by the Oracle Development Tools User Group. New Orleans was the perfect host city as it provided great entertainment options after hours, and gave us an excuse to adorn attendees with Mardi Gras beads in arcplan colors! We also enjoyed catching up with attendees we've met at past Kscopes and several arcplan customers who were in attendance, including Turner Broadcasting and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Of the 1400 attendees (attendance has risen by about 100 per year over the past several years), we found that half seemed to be business users and half were more on the IT/development side. Everyone who stopped by our booth was open about the systems they have in place, how they're functioning, and the challenges they're experiencing. We spoke with many attendees who:

Several remarked on their extended OBIEE implementations (2+ years and counting…) and how they need an interim solution for reports and dashboards. They were delighted to see arcplan's capabilities and excited by our drag-and-drop designer tool – and of course by our ability to deploy enterprise projects in less than 4 months.

Dwight_demo_smAt our booth, we noticed how few demos the vendors seemed to be doing on the show floor. But then Wednesday rolled around and we were asked for demo after demo. As an exhibitor, it was great that the exhibit floor was still active during the final exhibit hall hours.

This year, we had John Kozlowski join us for his first Kscope. He's our Director of North American Alliances, and he found the show extremely valuable when it came to meeting with potential arcplan partners. He spent time with a number of Hyperion-focused consulting firms and systems integrators that see a need for arcplan when OBIEE and Hyperion Planning are too costly or too complex for their clients. We believe we'll form some fantastic new partnerships with companies that can combine their Oracle expertise with arcplan software.

At Kscope, there is a real focus on education, and this is the reason people attend year after year. The sessions are extremely high quality and well-attended – as a vendor, I can tell you the exhibit hall was just about empty during session times!

Thanks to ODTUG for putting on a terrific event as usual – the show floor, networking opportunities, food, entertainment and sessions were all top-notch. We'll see you next year in Seattle!
