arc|ademy BI Challenge - The Winners 2013

arcplan arc|ademy BI Challenge 2013 was won by two information technology students from the university of applied sciences Cologne. They won the categories Fast Mover and Business Excellence. The awardees were chosen by a jury consisting of experts such as Dr. Wolfgang Martin, one of the leading European analysts, Hans Peter Wolff, CTO of arcplan and representatives of the media, Deutsche Telekom, Ernst & Young, and Deloitte.

In the category Fast Mover the jury decided to award the application "Fuel Change – Fuel through ages“ by Tobias Oberley. It is based on arcplan Enterprise 7 and supports users to choose the right car. The solution provides insight in the development of fuel prizes and the average fuel consumption of a car and calculates the cost related to the driven distance. Furthermore the solution offers interfaces to online map providers that enable users to retrieve the most cost-efficient routes.

The arcplan Enterprise 7-based "somingo Management Dashboard" by Maximilian Blau won the Business Excellence category. It brings together social media data, competitive information, revenues, and other financial data such as EBITDA in a unique market analysis and leverages the decision making process in organizations. Especially impressing: Data such as stock prices and facebook comments are automatically stored in the somingo online database via PHP scripts.

The arc|ademy BI Challenge is an award for students who design creative web applications based on arcplan software. The award categories comprise Business Excellence, Fast Mover, and Innovation. There was no awardee in the category Innovation this year because no submission was able to convince the Jury.
