Langenfeld, Germany. 17 June 2008 – arcplan, an international provider of Enterprise Performance Management solutions, announced today that it has made two new appointments to reinforce its management team. From his base at arcplan’s US subsidiary, Craig H. Barton will manage the global development and expansion of arcplan’s product offerings as Vice President of Global Product Management. In addition, arcplan has appointed Juergen Merkel as Vice President EMEA Sales. In this position, Merkel will lead sales activities across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Craig H. Barton – new Vice President of Global Product Management
Craig H. Barton brings to arcplan over 20 years’ professional experience in marketing, business development, product design and management in numerous industries. He specializes in developing market and customer-oriented product strategies. Prior to joining arcplan, Barton was Senior Director, Product Management at Exclaim, a provider of a digital media platform for publishing content to the web and wireless devices. At Exclaim, he spearheaded all new product launches and the management of the product portfolio for Exclaim’s Web and Saas (Software as a Service) business units. Under his leadership, the flagship consumer site dotphoto.com was successfully rebranded, redesigned, and launched. The site was honored by the US magazine Popular Photography as “Top Photo Portal”. Before joining Exclaim, Barton was Director of Product Management and Marketing of the Business Solutions Group at MapQuest, an AOL company, from 2003 to 2005. Here, he was responsible for the strategic direction and market penetration of the company’s B2B products contributing to 30% revenue growth during his tenure. His earlier professional experience includes positions at companies including Vicinity, Optivo, Autodesk, Century Engineering and Lockheed Martin. Barton holds an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and an MBA from Loyola College.

Juergen Merkel – new Vice President EMEA Sales
Juergen Merkel’s professional experience comprises more than 15 years sales and business development at prestigious IT companies. Prior to joining arcplan, he was Sales Director, Industry, at the business process management solutions provider IDS Scheer. His five years there included sales of the ARIS product in the manufacturing area. He was also responsible for developing and leading the sales team, which was one of the company’s most successful in the world. Before joining IDS Scheer, Merkel worked for Hyperion Solutions and J.D. Edwards (both now subsidiaries of Oracle) as Named Account Manager and Pre Sales Marketing Consultant respectively. Merkel has a degree in business administration from Karlsruhe Technical University and the Karlsruhe University of Cooperative Education in Germany.
